Founded over 30 years ago, The Carey Group have built an impressive track record of successful projects and growth as an industry leader in the construction and civil engineering business with a turnover exceeding £200 million.
Now a big player in the industry, Careys realised that they needed to sharpen their brand definition and develop a positioning and identity strategy that would set them apart from their competitors.
Youmeus developed a suite of brand assets for Careys that helped communicate a unique positioning for their business offer, delivered via a set of brand toolkits and frameworks. To achieve this, we worked extensively with Careys management team to help them define a series of brand values. These were then translated and delivered through a clearly defined and distinctive personality.
The project became a valuable asset for explaining the role of the brand to employees as well as a source of numerous communications campaigns that have since been carried out.
To ensure correct usage and to maintain ongoing brand management, Youmeus then developed a set of brand guidelines, encompassing the brand identity devices, brand mark, colours, photography, corporate typefaces and brand voice. [View case study].
An interesting video viral from Coca-Cola, part of its global "Open Happiness" campaign. The producers of this video secretly installed a modified Coca-Cola vending machine overnight - along with five hidden cameras. What's nice about this is the genuine excitement and authentic reactions it has created.
This art installation by Dutch artist Zeger Reyers was put into motion at the opening of the exhibition Eating the Universe at Germany’s Kunsthalle Düsseldorf. "Rotating Kitchen" will keep rotating throughout the show until February 28th 2010, so things will be really messy by then.
Back in 2000 we designed 'Pulp', a disposable mobile phone manufactured from recycled paper pulp. Selected for The International Design Yearbook - edited by Marcel Wanders and also featured in many other publications.
Designed in an era when very few of us owned mobile cell phones and before many operators supported technology such as GSM, making international roaming possible, this concept was aimed at the occasional user or international traveler. Shortly after SMS text messaging and digital networks emerged followed by 3G, Smart Phones and the rest is history.
Recently we noticed that their might still be a place for such a device in todays saturated market of feature rich hand held devices, as BIC, famous for disposable pens and lighters, launches the 'BIC Phone'.
The product which can be bought at supermarkets, petrol stations and airports, comes charged and ready to use immediately with an hours free calls. Users will then be able to top up the Phone's airtime by buying Mobicarte pre-pay cards.
In France over 110,000 BIC phones were sold since August 2008 which clearly shows that there is a market for this type of product. Maybe people looking for simplicity, a back-up phone or a second phone for those of us who prefer not to disclose our private number when shopping online or posting ads.

We are delighted to announce that Youmeus have recently won two design awards. 2008 Starpack, Gold and Pentawards Worldwide Packaging Competition, Silver. Both for the packaging design we created on kMix, a Kenwood stand mixer, which we also designed some time ago.
Thank You.
Way back in 2001 we designed a range of contemporary glassware called ‘Inside Out’ which won an award in the 2001 I.D. Annual Design Review. Unfortunately we never got around to brining this range of products to market despite having a lot of interest from consumers and trade alike, who saw our work in I.D. Magazine and on our website.
Well, 7 years later, it appears that a New York based designer has developed a range of glassware also called ‘Inside Out’. We couldn’t help but notice the striking similarity to our own designs. People say "imitation is the best form of flattery”.
Well there you have it – If you have an idea don’t wait around too long!
They are on sale at Charles & Marie in Europe however we’ve seen them and the quality is somewhat disappointing.
A couple of weeks ago Youmeus was shortlisted for several Design Awards.
We are delighted to announce that the results for one of them has just been announced and Youmeus has won 1st Prize in the 2007 iDA (International Design Awards) for kMix in the Kitchen Appliance category.
It's also great to see that the UK is once again showing well on the
global stage with a couple of other UK design agencies collecting prizes.
We're delighted to find ourselves short listed alongside such formidable designers in the Kitchens and Tabletop category of the prestigious Elle Decoration British Design Awards for the striking new Kenwood product we designed called kMix.
We hope you don't mind us sharing this moment of self indulgence with you!
Should you be interested, the awards supplement can be found in the October 07 issue of ELLE Decoration, and an online voting system for the awards has been created at:
www.elledecorationdesignawards.co.uk
Those who vote for their favorite work or designers will be entered into a prize draw, with a chance to win exclusive VIP invites to the Design Awards party in London!
